FABRIC operates across two sites in the Midlands:

  • The international Centre for Choreography (iC4C) in Nottingham city centre, where we have office space and three state of the art dance studios, alongside meeting and networking spaces.
  • Within the Birmingham Hippodrome campus, in the Southside district of Birmingham. Here we have office space and well-equipped professional dance studios. Operating within an established building-based partnership with Birmingham Hippodrome, Birmingham Royal Ballet and Dance Hub Birmingham, benefitting from a range of shared services and in-house expertise.

These arrangements will begin in September and are subject to change.

If you’re visiting our FABRIC team or are an artist using the studios, please come to the reception on Level 5, Birmingham Hippodrome via the Thorp Street entrance.

For Dance Class Participants

Our dance classes take place in the FABRIC studios and Birmingham Royal Ballet Studio 5

Arrive for all classes at Level 5 Birmingham Hippodrome via the Thorp Street entrance (this is the entrance before the Stage Door).

You may need to check in with staff at the reception desk in the foyer.

The lift to Level 5 is on the right in the foyer or you can take the metal stairs immediately in front of the entrance.

Once at the reception, you will be guided to the relevant studio.

Dance Hub

To access Dance Hub Studio, enter via the Stage Door on Thorp Street.

The lift is to the right in the foyer and is clearly signed. The Dance Hub Studio is located on Level 3.  Should the lift be out of order, there is an alternative lift and staff will be able to direct you.

Alternatively, you can also use the stairs, please request access at the Birmingham Royal Ballet Reception desk in the Stage Door foyer.  Note: it is 10 flights of steps to Level 3 where the Dance Hub is located.

The Bullring is on many major bus routes in and out of the City Centre and is just a few minutes walk from the Hippodrome.- Use the Transport for West Midlands Journey Planner to check bus routes.

There is no FABRIC car park but public parking is available in the surrounding areas:

From Old Market Square

Walking: 15 minutes

Walk up Long Row and Pelham Street past The Council House. Cary on down Goose Gate and through Hockley until you get to Sneinton Market, take a right on Bath Street and then left on Carlton Road until you reach King Edward Park. Turn right once you get to Dakeyne Street, directly before King Edward Park and you will have reached iC4C.

Getting Here
The international Centre for Choreography (iC4C) is located on the east side of Nottingham city centre.

Arrival
iC4C is situated in the Space 2 building, which spans the length of the first half of Dakeyne Street and is built on a slight incline.

Parking
The Space 2 building has shared access to two blue badge spaces. These spaces operate on a first come, first served basis as spaces cannot be reserved. There are on-street parking bays on Dakeyne Street which are free for two-hours and also paid for parking on the surrounding roads. Information on parking for surrounding roads can be found here.

Visitors have also found the RingGo app useful when searching for places to park near the Space 2 building.

Option 1
You can use the 24/25 bus (Lilac Line) from the city centre at King Street Stop K3 heading to Arnold and Westdale Lane and get off at Handel Street Stop SN07. This journey takes approximately 5 – 7 minutes. After getting off the bus cross the road to Kind Edwards park and take a left onto Dakeyne Street.

Option 2
You can also take the 27 bus (Lilac Line) from the city centre at King Street Stop K3 (same as the 24/25) heading to Carlton and get off at Handel Street Stop SN07. This journey takes approximately 5 – 7 minutes. After getting off the bus cross the road to Kind Edwards park and take a left onto Dakeyne Street.

Option 3
Take Green Line number 8 from Nottingham Railway Station (Stop number 1) then catch the 100 Pathfinder from Victoria Centre Stop W4. Alight at the Handel Street bus stop SN06.

From the north of the city, catch the tram towards Clifton South or Toton Lane and get off at The Lace Market; trams depart every 6 minutes. From The Lace Market tram stop you will have a 15 minute walk through Hockley and Sneinton Market (see walking route above).

On the northbound route, catch the tram towards Phoenix Park or Hucknall and get off at The Lace Market. Again, trams depart every 6 minutes. You will then have a 15 minute walk through Hockley and Sneinton Market (see walking route above).

From Nottingham Train Station

Walking: 20 Minutes.

From Station Street, walk along Trent Street. Turn right and walk along Canal Street towards London Road roundabout. Take Lower Parliament Street exit off the roundabout and walk all the way along Lower Parliament Street past Motorpoint Arena then turn right down Carlton Road until you get to King Edward Park. Once you arrive at King Edward Park take a right up Dakeyne Street, immediately before the park.

From East Midlands Airport:

Via public transport: 1hr 2minutes. Catch the Skylink bus outside the terminal building to Clifton South Park & Ride and then take the tram from Clifton South to The Lace Market Stop.

Via car: 28 Minutes.
