The annual programme is designed to allow flexibility and can take between 3 – 6 weeks over a period of 18 months, to be scheduled to suit the artists’ needs. The artists may also benefit from access to a production space in the Patrick Studio at Birmingham Hippodrome.

We are interested in working with artists whose choreographic practice resonates with our artistic policy and whose residency promises an output within the performance or discourse events at DanceXchange or Birmingham International Dance Festival. This includes work for outdoor places, site-specific locations or studio theatre spaces.

In addition to the financial support and provision of time and space, the resident artists will benefit from mentoring and advice from the dx Artistic team and will also have access to guidance from the Marketing or Learning and Participation teams if desired.
