Far From The Norm offer a continued professional development opportunity taking place over two artist development weekends, for Hip Hop based creatives in the Midlands.

Far From The Norm came to Nottingham in May 2023 to perform their new work, Mama. As part of their time in Nottingham Far From The Norm worked with eight Midlands based artists over two weekends and covering:

– Movement exploration and facilitated improvisation
– Far From The Norm repertoire and movement vocab
– Peer-to-peer work, understanding how to work with other bodies and translate ideas
– Far From The Norm’s choreographic devices

Each development weekend provided participants with the practical skills to translate their newly acquired learning into their craft. The weekend included technique classes in Hip Hop, House, Poppin’ and Krump. Delivered by Far From The Norm artists, Jordan Douglas and Victoria Shulungu.
