Workshop with Eve Stainton

Fri 12th Jun 2026, 11:00am

Location: Nottingham
Venue: Fabric Space 2

Artist and choreographer Eve Stainton will be leading a workshop to test new material related to bricklaying and working-class masculinities.

Eve will share a brief intro to their research and the project ideas, followed by a practical session: carrying and moving heavy bricks together and tasks related to taking weight, lifting and negotiating through space.

The research is looking into manual labour culture as well as who in society gets labelled a ‘threat’ and why. No previous movement experience is required, and there will likely be a range of experiences in the room. Some tasks might involve touch or sharing weight with others, but everything will be approached through conversation and consent.

Eve Stainton is an artist and choreographer from Manchester, based in London. They are coming to Nottingham for a residency week at Fabric to research a new performance project which will involve building and dismantling a large concrete brick wall.

This workshop is for anyone who identifies with a form of masculinity and resonates with the themes. This is a trans+ inclusive space.

Supported by Fabric and the New Dimensions Consortium.
