Shane Shambhu

Shane Shambhu works nationally and internationally as a dancer, actor, award-winning choreographer, director and writer and is the Creative Director of Altered Skin.

Initially trained in bharatanatyam with Pushkala Gopal and further training with Mavin Khoo, Shane has taken his bharatanatyam into wider artistic contexts, including work with BBC TV & Radio, Film 4, British Council, Royal Opera House, Old Vic, Complicite, National Theatre Live, Shobana Jeyasingh, Jatinder Verma, Simon McBurney and Nigel Planer to name a few.

His works has toured extensively and was Movement Director for Conundrum at The Young Vic and for Marcus Du Sautoy (Simonyi Professor for the Public Understanding of Science at the University of Oxford). He has directed Hebridean Treasure and Co-Directed Outside The Box as part of the Commonwealth Games 2022. He was lecturer at East 15 Acting School and has presented talks at the International Platform for Performer Training (Grotowski Institute, Wroclaw, Poland), Centre for Asian Theatre & Dance, and Centre on Dynamics of ethnicity.
