Residency: Anjali’s Party

Anjali’s Party” (re-imagined) develops earlier R&D with choreographer Rhiannon Faith to create a new work performed by Anjali’s six learning disabled artists. It places our disabled artists at the heart of the creative process and performance, challenging assumptions about whose work is visible, valued, and programmed in contemporary performance.

Reimagining the familiar middle-class dinner party, the work offers a physical, devised exploration of social power, vulnerability, and belonging. Through dance, autobiographical stories, and text, Anjali artists reclaim authorship, authentically and playfully questioning authority and hierarchy. This is a moving, bold, and joyfully silly piece of work, with care and radical justice at its core.

Designed for indoor touring, the project supports Anjali’s return to touring post-pandemic and offers key career development opportunities, with three company members creating and touring commissioned work for the first time.

About Anjali Dance Company

Anjali Dance Company is a disabled-led, independent organisation creating bold, contemporary dance experiences led by learning disabled and neurodivergent artists. We blend dance and personal storytelling to create work that is provocative and emotionally resonant, challenging traditional hierarchies and who is typically seen on stage.

Our productions tour nationally and internationally, and through performance, participation, and advocacy, we champion artistic excellence while reshaping perceptions of disability, access, and creative leadership in contemporary dance. We are excited to be collaborating with Rhiannon Faith, a socially conscious artist whose work acts as a catalyst for dialogue and change.
