After six platform events taking place across the Midlands, One Dance UK have made the final selections for the 2 groups from the Midlands to go on to perform at U.Dance National Festival in Liverpool.

U.Dance is a national programme of events offering high-quality dance opportunities to young people led by One Dance UK (ODUK).

This year’s six U.Dance Regional Midlands platforms took place in Birmingham, Derby, Leicester, Lincoln, Nottingham and Northampton with over 600 young dancers performing in front of a selection panel.

For each of these platforms, two pieces were selected and added to a regional shortlist for ODUK to make a final selection. Once all six platforms had taken place, ODUK made their selection from the shortlist for two groups, one from the East Midlands and one from the West Midlands to go on to perform at the U.Dance National Festival.

We’re pleased to announce that the works going to the U.Dance National Festival on behalf of the Midlands are:

From the East Midlands: Next Door Dance Youth Company
From the West Midlands: Our Lady St Chads

In addition to the above selections, Darby Dance who performed a solo work at the Birmingham U.Dance event, has also been selected to perform at the Young Creatives Showcase as part of the U.Dance National Festival.

Congratulations to those who have been selected. We’re excited to see these works representing the Midlands. We’d also like to acknowledge from our selection panel’s, how tough a decision this has been with such high-quality work seen across the Midlands.

Finally we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and thank all of you who were involved in the U.Dance Regional events this year and to acknowledge everyone’s hard work and commitment and for making U.Dance Regional what it is – thank you.

If you would like to find out more about U.Dance Regional or apply for one of next year’s events, details for U.Dance 2025 will become available on our U.Dance page soon.

Until next year!
