FABRIC is looking for anyone interested in celebrating the history of dance in Nottingham.

Working with Director Alan Lyddiard and Choreographer Tamara McLorg, you’re invited to share your stories of dance in the city of Nottingham and join The Nottingham Ensemble, with the option to join the residency and be part of a wonderful sharing of life through, stories, performance, music and dance as part of Nottdance 2025.

This invitation is for everyone of any age, background, experience, who has engaged in dance in Nottingham.

To take part in the live performance element, you must be able to attend 12, 19, 24 and 25 October as a minimum. In addition to this, we will host a session each weekday for 2 weeks for working with Alan, Tamara and a live musician that you can drop in and out of.

We have 10 bursary places of £250 available to support participation in this project for those who may be interrupting artist commitments to make this possible.

Dates and Commitments

To take part in the live performance element, you must be able to commit to attending rehearsals on 12, 19 and 24 October and the performance day on 25 October. In addition to this, Alan and Tamara will host weekday drop-in sessions (4-8pm) to expand the experience, optional for those that have time and desire to do more.

Each participant will join1 or 2 zoom sessions in September (1-2-1 or group), dates to be negotiated.

Creation and performance dates

You must be able to attend all dates as listed below to be part of the performance opportunity, which will take place at 3pm on Saturday 25 October as part of Nottdance 2025. All activity will take place at FABRIC Studios, Nottingham.

If you would like to be part of The Nottingham Ensemble, but cannot commit to the performance engagement, please register your interest and we will be in touch. We are considering how there can be wider engagement through video contributions.

Weekday Sessions

There are two weeks of daily sessions that participants are free to attend whenever possible. Alan and Tamara will lead these sessions along with a live musician.
These are drop in session between 4 till 8pm, you can arrive when you want, stay as long as you want and leave when you want.
