School Workshops

As part of our continuing commitment to nurturing young people with a passion for dance, we offer workshops to schools across the Midlands. Workshops are a great way to introduce students to creative, contemporary dance styles and talk to them about accessible opportunities to pursue dance outside school.

Fabric offers one off school workshops to secondary schools across the Midlands, delivered by our professionals from our Centre for Advanced Training Programme.

Workshops should ideally take place during the school day, and can be booked  between January 2026 – June 2026. The workshops are aimed at young people in year groups 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11.

Workshops must be 2 hours. These could be made up of two 1 hour sessions with different groups or the same group for 2 hours.

Cost – £180

1x professional artist delivering high quality contemporary dance introduction workshop. Includes all planning, travel expenses and admin fees.

Fabric has a limited number of FREE workshops to offer across the region. These will be offered on a first come first served basis, with a geographical spread considered in our selection process.

Criteria to be eligible for free school workshops:

  • The school must be a state funded school
  • The school must be within the East or West Midlands
  • The school’s student population on Free school Meals is over 30%

All schools wishing to have a workshop must adhere to the following:

  • The school must provide a suitable place for a dance workshop
  • The school must provide acquaint staff to support/ supervise the workshop
  • The school must arrange a suitable group of students to participate in the workshop. Maximum 30/ minimum 10 aged between 11-16 years.
  • If the school cancels a workshop within 48 hours of the scheduled workshop taking place, they will be liable to pay a £80 cancelation fee/ even if their workshop was offered for free.

We can offer bespoke workshops for primary schools in the region or help put you in touch with some fantastic independent artists to come into your school. 

Careers Days

Fabric work with partner organisations to host annual opportunities to come and learn more about careers in dance. For the past few years we have hosted events across our sites as part of Discover! Creative Careers a national campaign that takes place each November. Across the month, hundreds of employers offer inspiring events to thousands of young people, exposing them to the world of work in the creative industries.

Continued Professional Development

Fabric deliver annual inspiring CPD opportunities for teachers and freelancers. These usually take place in the Autumn term to help teachers prepare for the academic year ahead.
