Fascia in Faschion! Exploring South Asian dance through the lens of fascia

Thu 27th Aug 2026, 4:00pm

Location: Birmingham
Venue: Fabric Birmingham Hippodrome

Birmingham-based artist Kali Chandrasegaram invites you to an open sharing of his current work, which explores the potential of extending the longevity of an artist’s practice with an understanding of fascia.

His research and development project explores a fascia-informed movement practice, with a focus on South Asian classical dance and will be working with other artists in exploring this work.

This inclusive gathering invites dancers and non-dancers alike to come together to listen, converse, move, and engage with the research process. Join Kali and a focus group of South Asian classical dance practitioners along with Russell Maliphant as you share insights, experiences, and discoveries emerging from this ongoing development. This research and development is mentored by Balbir Singh

Who is this for?

This event is open for artists interested in sustaining a long-term movement practice, older and ageing artists, professionals working across health and wellbeing, including physiotherapists, and anyone interested in exploring quality of movement and longevity in dance.
