Karis Scarlette

Karis Scarlette was born in London and started ballet at the age of 2. By age 6 she was taking classes at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden under the direction of Royal Ballet teachers and at 12 years old, entered the Royal Ballet School at White Lodge before graduating into the Royal Ballet Upper School at age 16. During her training, she danced with the Royal Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, and English National Ballet and also joined the National Theatre Company under the direction of Sir Nicholas Hytner for a season both as a dancer and actor.

After sustaining a severe back injury, Karis decided to retire from professional dance and returned to the Royal Ballet School to attain her teacher training qualification in 2010. Since then, she has taught ballet in over 12 countries around the world as a guest teacher as well as running her own adult ballet retreats. High-profile clients include Katie Melua, Billy Zane, and Fleur East. Karis is also qualified to teach meditation and breathwork and often includes these practices on retreats and during 1:1 coaching.
