THIS IS DANCE: In Conversation – How the Swallows Landed

Tue 10th Mar 2026, 6:00pm

Location: Birmingham
Venue: Eastside Projects

Join Eastside Projects for an evening of conversation and shared reflection.

Hosted by researcher, educator, and independent curator Dr. Sylvia Theuri, this roundtable event will explore the creative process behind the exhibition Compensare: For the Swallows We Weigh.

Artist Marley Starskey Butler; Charlotte Jenkins (CEO and Founder) and Peppy Hills (Senior Therapist) from Beacon Family Services; and movement artists Marley Starkey Joyner and Kim Bormann will come together to reflect on how the work developed and the project’s themes, from the emotional, psychosocial, and political landscapes that shape family support, to the ways systemic forces interact with the lived experiences of families and the professionals who support them.

There will be time to take in the exhibition at the start of the event and plenty of hot drinks, samosa’s and sweet treats to keep energy levels high!
