Sophie Thorpe

Sophie Thorpe is contemporary dance artist, performer, teacher and maker based in Nottingham. She has been working for the last decade across the professional, educational and community sectors. She is co-founder of Feet off the Ground, a female led dance collective and a company dancer and rehearsal director for Tom Dale Company.

Sophie believes in the power of dance to heal, transform and inspire and is passionate about the role that movement, expression and creativity plays in people’s lives. She holds a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Dance from London Contemporary Dance School and a postgraduate diploma from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance.

 

About her classes

Sophie’s classes encourage expansion, power and fluidity, drawing on influences from release technique and floorwork. There is also a strong focus on connecting with others in the space and featuring a combination of phrase work, improvisation and dynamic travelling sequences. Taking class with Sophie will leave you feeling energised, centred, and connected.

Sophie is a tutor for EMDAN Open Contemporary classes at iC4C in Nottingham.
