Jhanvee Patel

Jhanvee Patel is a UK-based freelance dance and movement artist, teacher, and choreographer with over 20 years of dance experience. With over 15 years of professional training in classical Indian arts, she specialises in Bharatanatyam, which underpins her artistic practice.

While rooted in Bharatanatyam, her artistic journey has expanded across multiple styles including Bhangra, Giddha, Garba (Gujarati folk), Contemporary, Bollywood, Commercial, Hip Hop, Street, Afro, and Kuthu. This breadth of training has shaped her into a versatile and dynamic artist, allowing her to develop a distinctive movement language. Drawing on elements from different practices, she blends these influences into her choreography and movement expression, creating work that reflects both classical grounding and contemporary versatility.

A graduate of the National Centre for Advanced Dance Training Programme, delivered by Fabric and Birmingham Hippodrome, Jhanvee has performed and worked extensively across the UK. Her professional experience includes delivering workshops and classes, as well as collaborating with leading organisations such as One Dance UK, NYDC, Akademi, and Linden Dance.

Alongside her performance career, Jhanvee has worked extensively as a teacher, choreographer, and creative director, delivering workshops, classes, and performances at both local and national levels. Her choreographic work has been presented on stage and at major competitions, where she has also taken on leadership roles as a captain, coach, and director – overseeing choreography, leading and teaching rehearsals, collaborating with music artists to create original soundscapes, managing logistics, and directing the overall production for competitive teams, groups, and squads.

For over a decade, she was an integral part of the Yuva Gati South Asian training programme, contributing both as an artist and as part of the core delivery team until its conclusion in August 2025. During this time, she supported Arts Council England and Department for Education outreach projects, mentoring young artists and developing creative initiatives within South Asian dance training.

Today, Jhanvee continues to create, teach, and perform, drawing on her extensive movement vocabulary and professional experience to inform the work she produces. She is passionate about sharing South Asian art forms through dance and is committed to creating inclusive and accessible classes for dancers of all backgrounds and experience levels. Whether working with complete beginners or experienced dancers, she aims to offer something new in every class — bringing a fresh perspective, energy, and creative twist to each session.
