In the first year of the CROWD international dance exchange programme, we hosted six selected artists in residence at iC4C from Monday 4 to Friday 15 October 2021.

CROWD was piloted in 2021, developed by Goethe-Institut with European partners in a time when we felt that international sharing and human connection is needed more than ever. This research programme aims to support dance artists with an established practice in community engaged dance making.

The CROWD partnership is made up of funders and partners Arts Council England (UK), NRW KULTURsekretariat (DE), Dansateliers (NL), TaikaBox (FI), TanzFaktur (DE), Pottporus (DE) The Work Room (UK) and Dance4 (UK) working with the Goethe-Institut.

In CROWD’s first year, UK based artists Emma Lewis-Jones and Victor Fung worked alongside international artists Pontus Linder (FI), Hannah Sampé (DE), Agnetha Jaunich (DE) and Jija Sohn (NL).

There was also a 2-day summit welcoming project partners to iC4C to continue exploring crossover themes, hear from experts, and develop a shared understanding of the practice of community engagement in dance.
