Angnaa Installation by Janhavi Sharma

Thu 13th Jun 2024 to Sat 15th Jun 2024, various times

Location: Nottingham
Venue: iC4C

Visual artist Janhavi Sharma presents Angnaa, a multi-sensory video, sculpture and performance installation that takes inspiration from the various interpretations of the title: the patch of land outside home dedicated to a kitchen garden; a woman’s body; and the imperishable.

The multi-sensory installation reflects on the choreographies of a kitchen garden. From the physical bodily movements around a patch of land, to the metaphorical shufflings of meanings and gender roles, and passing of oral traditions and micro-histories, to the slow/durational changes in seasons – the cosmologies of the garden itself, and the potential eco-political scope of routines of self-care, and self-fulfilment.

This event is part of Transition + Transit, curated by Dwayne Church-Simms: a collection of works that explore movement, change, the stories we share and the objects that define our past, present, and future. Transition + Transit is FABRIC’s contribution to Transform, a City Takeover, a collaboration with New Art Exchange and Backlit, Bonington Gallery, Broadway, City Arts, FABRIC, Lakeside Arts, New Perspectives Theatre, Nottingham City of Literature, Nottingham Contemporary, Nottingham Playhouse, Primary, Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall and UK New Artists.
