Dr Kate Carruthers Thomas

Kate is an academic, poet and illustrator.  She is a Senior Research Fellow at Birmingham City University specialising in gender and contemporary higher education, creative research methodologies and dissemination.

She is also the university’s lead for gender equality. In addition to conventional academic publications, she uses illustrations and poetry performance to communicate her research findings. Recent works include Five Survive Lockdown: A Graphic Novella and the research poem: Poetry in Emotion: Writing up Emotional Labour.
