Nourishing Sunday: M.I/L!K? digestive with melissandre varin and Sym Stellium

Sun 16th Jun 2024, 2:00pm

Location: Nottingham
Venue: iC4C

Spend time with atmosphere-maker melissandre varin, 30 M.I/L!K?, a black tarpaulin, spiritual care coordinator Sym Stellium, cushions, chairs, a dance studio, wooden tables, sonic waves, a film from les ongles noirs (dirty nails) residency in Dakar, clay, us.

This event is presented by FABRIC as part of the Transition + Transit programme for the Transform Festival.

M.I/L!K? digestive is an invitation to sit together, make clay vessels, share a warm drink, have conversations as intestinal massages, co-regulate, try, get to know each other and ourselves a bit more, and let a collective digestive process take place in the form and shape it needs to.

M.I/L!K? is a fermenting sculpture made through seasonal rituals since Autumn 2022 with  Kilner preserve jars, Caribbean rum, melissandre’s hair and locks, sugar cane, kidney beans, human fluids, debris from Eastside projects space and more. An off-shoot of melissandre’s late mother Dani’s hair hoarding transmission, M.I/L!K? is an accountability tool to notice and take into account the atmosphere we immerse into and co-create.

M.I/L!K? digestive is part of Nourishing Sunday, a space where dance artists, visual artists and performance makers will share works-in-progress and project ideas with the public over a nourishing brunch in a relaxed atmosphere at iC4C in Nottingham. Find out more HERE.
