Changing Perceptions Symposium – Enhancing Provision and Progression Routes for Young Disabled Dancers.

This symposium will explore, discuss and debate how the dance sector is enhancing provision and progression routes for Young People with disabilities. Significant changes are taking place in the dance sector but there is still much work to be done. Drawing upon the research launched by Dance4 in March 2013,  the symposium will be led by leading experts  with an opportunity for delegates to discuss and  recommend mechanisms

East Midlands Inclusive Dance Commission – Petroglyph
The Space, Nottingham Contemporary

Created by acclaimed choreographers Gary Clarke and TC Howard, Petroglyph is an epic physical celebration of young people joining forces and coming together: a sculptural and powerful work that takes a close look at human relationships, individuality and the search for common ground. Set to a live score by alternative rock band ‘Best of Fiends’, a company of diverse young performers from across the East Midlands will perform a new work that captures the physical, emotional and intellectual force of the human being.

Stopgap Dance Company Performance The Awakening
Market Square

The Awakening is a quiet but simmering disruption in outdoor spaces. Choreographed by learning disabled dance artist Chris Pavia, The Awakening involves four characters trapped in a strange but mesmerising ritual. The Awakening is performed by four disabled and non-disabled dancers.
