Without a major cultural event like the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games or Birmingham Festival 23, Fabric and United by 2022 recognised a gap in opportunities for showcasing talent.
In response, as part of Keep Moving, Fabric developed a performance strand. Creating new platforms and supporting access to existing events throughout the year, ensuring that groups could continue to share and celebrate their work with audiences.
Events have included:
- Birmingham Weekender performance of ‘Uplift’ with Linden Dance Company’s Keep Moving group
- Reflections inclusive showcase at Walsall Arena featuring performances from SiD, BCDH, Dancefest, Funky Kids, Aspire & Evolve
- New performance group for Embody Dance in Nuneaton
- Inclusive sharing in Coventry for Belgrade, Moving Space Co and Ascension Journey groups
- Why I Dance film & photography project by That! Dance (Exhibited at the Brewhouse Arts Centre through Mar – Apr 25)
- Future Shift performed new piece ‘The Big Rift’ at Applause Youth Dance festival alongside other Keep Moving dancers from across the region.
