Sing Child Sing, a celebration of Curiosity, Disruption and Joy released for International Dance Day
To mark International Dance Day, we’re proud to share Sing Child Sing. A striking new film that brings movement and sound into bold conversation.
Commissioned by Fabric, the work explores the organisation’s core values of curiosity, disruption and joy, not as ideas, but as something embodied. Through voice, rhythm and physical presence, the film invites us to consider what it means to be heard as much as seen.
Directed by Ben Williams, produced by Far From The Norm and performed by Botis Seva and Shiloh, Sing Child Sing unfolds across two iconic Birmingham locations: The Vaults and Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. These spaces; rich with history and texture become active collaborators in the work, shaping its atmosphere and amplifying its sense of resonance.
There’s a raw clarity to the film. Movement doesn’t sit separately from sound; it pulses through it. Voice becomes physical. Gesture becomes sonic. What emerges is something immersive and quietly powerful. A piece that lingers.
Released on a day that celebrates dance worldwide, Sing Child Sing offers a moment to pause and connect, to experience dance not just as something to watch, but something to feel.
