North X North (NXN) are seeking 10 people aged 18 and over and have an interest in dance, theatre and/or music to join them in residence as they develop their new work The Drop 2.0 | A Spoken Vision.

North X North is a newly formed company by Sophie Duncan & John Ross and are in residence at FABRIC’s Nottingham site, July 2024.

They’re interested in understanding human experience, particularly in large groups. In this residency they will be researching with Lisa Hammond, Integrative Psychotherapist, and sound/lighting designer Daniel Sides Pearson, to develop their ideas for a new live performance experience. The residency will culminate with a sharing to try their ideas out for a live audience, including a community cast and for the first time, two professional dance artists harnessing sound, touch, and lighting design.

The Drop 2.0 | A Spoken Vision has become the name of NXN’s grand project. Over 3 to 5 years they will host several workshops and residencies, inviting members of the community to explore with them along the way. The company wish to meet as many different people as possible, from a range of backgrounds and experiences.

Call Out Opportunity

Join NXN’s community cast and take part in the public sharing on Thursday 25 July at iC4C, FABRIC in Nottingham.

You will join the company, where together you will focus on exploring the idea of the micro moment within music, often called ‘the drop’. Commonly experienced as a moment of shared euphoria within electronic music. The research will explore if it’s possible to extend this moment, to experience it for longer and if it is felt the same by everyone.

NXN are passionate about involving the community and their perspectives in the current stage of creating The Drop 2.0 | A Spoken Vision. They are looking for up to 10 people who have an interest in the work of NXN, dance, theatre and/or music to work in a group to develop and test some new ideas leading to a short public performance.

You will join 9 others (10 people in total) who share an interest in the work of NXN, dance, theatre and/or music. Together you will work with NXN as a group to develop and test new ideas culminating in a short public performance.
