Gary Clarke Company are looking for 5 members of the Nottingham LGBT+ community, aged 40 and over, to join their exceptional cast of performers on stage for their new work DETENTION during the Nottingham leg of the tour.

A fantastic opportunity for members of the LGBT+ community to retell the story of Section 28.

DETENTION is the eagerly anticipated new touring show from choreographer Gary Clarke, and the sequel to the multi-award winning COAL and critically acclaimed WASTELAND, exploring the controversial 1988 UK Local Government Act known as Section 28 and the devastating impact it had on LGBT+ communities worldwide.

What is the Opportunity?

DETENTION, will be performed at Nottingham Playhouse on Thursday 8 and Friday 9 May.  Five members of the LGBT+ community aged 40 and over will take to the stage alongside the cast of performers in this bold and moving portrayal of the remarkable resilience of the individuals and organisations of the time.

The Role: It will involve simple movements and some choreography within certain sections of the show.

Gary Clarke company is committed to providing opportunities to people with limited access to the arts and therefore no professional performance or stage experience is essential.

Each participant will receive a food and local travel allowance to cover rehearsals and performances.
