International Producing: Nuts and Bolts (4-week online course)

Course begins Tues 1st Oct 2024

Tuesday

Location: Online

A practical 4-week live online course designed to demystify international touring. This course will be led by Hannah Slimmon, Senior Producer: International for FABRIC.

During each live online 90-minute workshop, you will work in small groups to research and plan an international presentation. Week by week, you will gain an insight into the practicalities required to work in different countries.

Course outline:

  • Tuesday 1 October – Week 1: Exploring the context
  • Tuesday 8 October – Week 2: Planning, research & timelines
  • Tuesday 15 October – Week 3: Budgeting, fees & contracts
  • Tuesday 22 October – Week 4: Troubleshooting

Alongside Hannah, an experienced guest producer will co-lead each session, offering examples of their real-life touring experiences and feeding back on your course work. Please note: There will be a small amount of prep (no more than 60-minutes) to do between some sessions. Downloadable resources and templates will accompany the course.

To get the most from this course you must:

  • Be a producer (salaried or self-employed) or self-producing artist working in contemporary performance
