Celebrate Queer Joy Movement Workshop with Plue

Wed 7th Aug 2024, 11:00am

Wednesday

Location: Birmingham
Venue: Level 5 Studios

A creative workshop led by Eli & Joe exploring the joy and expansiveness of being queer.

This workshop is part of  Eli Lewis and Joe Garbett’s residency at FABRIC at the end of July/beginning of August.

This creative workshop invites you to playfully explore the joy and expansiveness of being queer. A chance to come together with other LGBTQ+ people to move, start conversations and share creative ideas in a positive, supportive environment.

Somewhere between a queer courting ritual and a hypnotic disappearing act, join us to step into a magical, new world, where nothing is quite what it seems…
Eli Lewis and Joe Garbett

You’ll also have the chance to see a short excerpt of their work, Plue and gain an insight to their work. Plue is a new contemporary dance performance by Eli and Joe, bursting with mesmerising illusions & mischief.

What to expect:

  •          Playful creative movement tasks using set design
  •          Facilitated group conversations
  •          Creative tasks about LGBTQ+ joy, intimacy, and visibility
  •          The exciting opportunity to see a short excerpt of Plue
  •          Free refreshments provided

As experienced facilitators, Eli and Joe are committed to care-centered, inclusive practices and working in ways that amplify marginalised voices. Through Plue, they are motivated by an eagerness to connect with other queer people in creative exchange and in ways that promote creative agency, joy & curiosity.
