Free Studio Space for Midlands-Based Dance Artists/Practitioners

Fabric is committed to making as many Blank Space sessions available as possible, between our programme schedule and commercial hires. Our aim is to ensure these spaces are used to their full potential — giving every artist the opportunity to access Blank Space.

Who Can Use Blank Space?

You are eligible if you meet all the following criteria:

  • You’re an independent artist/practitioner (not part of a National Portfolio Organisation)
  • You work in dance, movement, or choreography
  • You are based in the Midlands and currently living there
  • You are aged 18 or over

What Can the Space Be Used For?

Examples of suitable use:

  • Rehearsals or personal practice
  • Dance research and development
  • Devising a dance-based workshop
  • Audition preparation

Facilities available:

  • Studio access
  • Amplified sound system
  • WiFi

Please manage your time effectively and leave the space as you found it, ready for the next user.


What the Space Cannot Be Used For

The space must not be used for:

  • Classes, workshops, or training
  • Any commercial or paid activity
  • Publicly advertised events
  • Events involving non-professional participants
  • Anything with an audience
  • Groups of more than 6 people

Also note:

  • No access to furniture or equipment outside of the studio
  • Changing rooms are not available

Fabric’s Blank Space Fair Use Policy

  • Each artist is allowed approximately 10 sessions per year. This is equivalent in value to £1,000, matching our artist residency rate.
  • Artists are requested to limit usage to 2 sessions per month
  • Each session is maximum 2 hours
  • Each booked session must be used in full
