The evening brings queer South Asian stories to the forefront, inviting audiences to connect, reflect, and celebrate the beauty of being human.By blending Kathak and contemporary dance, the company creates dynamic, relevant work that explores intercultural narratives and celebrates the richness and intricacy of intersectional identities.
As a dance artist, LGBTQ+ and South Asian homosexual, Patel is refreshingly unique. The inconceivable relationship between religion and homosexuality in Patel’s YAATRA is a first for dance within our global culture. Instead of a cryptic condemnation of the past, Patel critiques tradition through reinvention.”
