Dance4 in the Park 2018

Dance4 in the Park was a fantastic free summer family day held in King Edward Park opposite Space 2. With performances and workshops for all ages.

Children, parents and grandparents joined in with the activities including

• skateboarding
• creative walks
• parkour
• stretchy fun
• sports workshops
• dance workshops – Street Dance by Gareth Woodward, Brazillian Carnival Dance by Aldelmo Andrade, Indian Stick Dance and Bollywood by Jaivant Patel and sessions for very young children and their families by Oksana Tyminska.

With lots to enjoy, children had fun on the bouncy castle, helter-skelter and soft play. Families enjoyed picnics and refreshments from the ice cream van and pavilion café.

Lucky winners of the raffle and tombola took home prizes, including petrol lawnmowers used as part of The Wild Grass performance, tickets to the theatre, toys and more.  It was a great day to remember.

Dog Kennel Hill Project (UK)

The Wild Grass was the highlight performance at the event and was a fantastic formation dancing lawn mower extravaganza!

Local community members from Sneinton and St. Ann’s shared ideas with choreographers from the company about the importance of thier own gardens, park and green spaces and Great Britain’s obsession with keeping lawns tidy. Inspired by them, the fantastic performance demonstrated complex patterns involving 5 identical synchronised lawn mowers combining modern folk dance with ideas from the local community.

Dance4 in the Park was supported by Nottingham City Council, The Jessie Spencer Trust, JN Derbyshire Turst, STOP-TRA, Skate Nottingham, Nottingham Together and donations raised through the For Studio4 campaign.

The Wild Grass is produced by Dance4 and supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
